- How to feel confident and LOVE who you are
- How to inpsire yourself and all the women around you
- Young women in the industry
- How to be a Boss Ass B%$#!
Our speaker panel will consist of 4-5 speakers from different backgrounds such as business, blogging, makeup and fitness that will all speak about how they reached their success and why they call themselves #GIRLBOSSES! After our speaker panel, EVERY guest will be able to enjoy Toronto's FIRST EVER virtual reality experience!!Pop on some glasses and emerge yourself into a completely different world! This will be a great way to break the ice with our guests, try out some VR, enjoy a light brunch and network with all the girlbosses at our event!
1. Huda Alvi ( @hudaalvi )
Huda Alvi calls herself a LIFE – INFLUENCER. After starting her own business at the age of 18, she was undeniable that entrepreneurship ran in her bloodline. Huda went door-to-door selling newspapers and magazines and incorporated her first direct marketing company. At the age of 25, Huda opened Istaff Management, which was her own recruitment firm, where she was able to succeed just short of a million-dollar company within its first year. Since then, Huda has launched her very own social campaign called IAMMORE which empowers women to share their stories both offline and online. Because of Huda's charismatic and empowering personality, she has built a social media following of 170000 followers and is also a wife, mother, step mother and mentor.
2. Mel Hwang ( @melhwang )
With 37,000 followers on Instagram, and an average of 20,000 visitors on her blog per month, Mel Hwang is an esteemed lifestyle and fashion blogger with a mission to share her forever-chase towards achieving an inspired life. Having blogged since 2008, under different blogs and under Mel Inspired since 2014, Mel's online journey is a tenured one and her passion for the digital space is undeniable. In conjunction with her life as a blogger, Mel has also developed an impressive career in the Advertising and Tech industry, having built her own successful ad network start up out of school, as well as having worked at Adobe, TubeMogul, and most recently, directly at Facebook and Instagram.
3. Shahad Mahdi ( @blackorchid_official )
At 20 years old, Shahad made the decision to start Black Orchid; a pop culture fashion brand aimed towards representing a positive image of Muslim and ethnic women. Shahad is a recent business commerce grad from Ryerson University and at such a young age has gotten tremendous media exposure and has been interviewed by CBC national and local news, Flare Magazine and Metronews.
4. Zehra Allibhai ( @zallibhai )
Zehra Allibhai has been in the fitness industry for over 15 years!! With a Bachelors degree in Science and Kinesiology, Zehra discovered her passion for helping women live a healthy lifestyle and be comfortable in their own skin. As her passion and love for fitness was clearly evident, Zehra gained a following of over 60000 on Instagram and continues to empower women through her health and fitness blog. Zehra has been featured on Self.com, Popsugar Fitness, The Huffington Post and Women's Health. Not to mention, Zehra is also a a wife and a mommy of two!
5. Katie Zeppieri ( @katiezeppieri )
Katie is a social entrepreneur, author, blogger, and motivational speaker who has spoken across North America, including on the TED Talk stage in Vancouver. She is one of the youngest on-air radio contributors to Toronto’s NEWSTALK 1010 AM station. Katie is proud to be the founder of three social businesses that all have giving back built into the bottom line:
1) GIRL TALK Empowerment—an organization that provides life-changing experiences, a multi-platform support network, ethical merchandise, and leadership opportunities that give girls the tools they need to overcome personal challenges and make their mark on the world.
2) The Pink Box—a lifestyle subscription box that provides women with beauty & lifestyle products that not only make them look & feel good, but that also do good.
3) MYM Event Management—a full-service event service business that works with companies to produce events with a charitable focus.
Katie was recognized as a student leader at a young age and has received national honours for her work. She is a former Top 20 Under 20 Finalist, a recipient of the TD Canada Trust $75,000 scholarship for Community Leadership, a recipient of the Governor General’s “Caring Canadian” Award and was also recognized by the YWCA as a “Young Woman of Distinction.”
